YMCA held its annual Badminton Charity Tournament on the 16th of August 2014 successfully with the help of Sunway Student Volunteers. The proceeds from this event will go towards ROAR Project to help out almost 1500 underprivileged children from a rural plantation area in Batang Berjuntai.
Before the tournament, volunteers attended the training session on 2nd August 2014 to understand their roles on the event day. 20 volunteers were divided into umpires, runners, person-in-charge in registration, goodies bags and logistic.
On the 10th August 2014, 4 SSV volunteers were sent to YMCA KL to help in packing goodies bags for the participants of the coming tournament. So, all together there are an Indian volunteer, 2 YMCA KL staff, 4 SSV members & 8 Japanese helping.
Other than serious duty, we fold origami, played some games and basketball together as a kind of ice breaking session.
During the tournament, we enjoyed being amazed by different badminton skills while fulfilling our duty.
What we found respectful is their spirit of sports.
