On the 23rd of August 2014, Sunway Student Volunteer went to Grace Community Services (GCS) Head Office which located at Klang for another meaningful volunteering work after the previous collaboration for TGIF Foodbank. There are 30 volunteers including Ms Joelin participated.
The person-in-charge of Grace Community Services gave us a short introduction of them and GCS after we reached. We were briefed on our job scope for the day. Unfortunately, hot meal preparation was cancelled because GCS had done it earlier on Tuesday.
3 leaders were elected to ensure that all the packaged food from 3 different departments were prepared, counted, moved and recounted correctly.
Volunteers packed the goods into different plastic bags according to the given instructions where rice was at the bottom, followed by canned/packaged food and lastly cooking oil.
We had packed total 275 bags of goods and they will be sent out to the Orang Asli in Carey Island within the month of September.
We feel proud that we had accomplished our mission for the day within a given time. Thank you to all the volunteers who participated, great job was done!
